Our Commitment
Independent Pathways Care Ltd is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard and continuously work to improve the accessibility and usability of our site.
What We Have Done
We have taken the following steps to make our website accessible:
- Semantic HTML — We use proper heading structures, landmarks, and semantic elements to help screen readers and assistive technologies understand our content.
- Keyboard navigation — All interactive elements on the site can be accessed and operated using a keyboard alone.
- Skip to content link — A "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass the navigation menu.
- Clear focus indicators — Visible focus styles are provided for all interactive elements to help keyboard users navigate the site.
- Colour contrast — We have chosen colour combinations that meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements for text readability.
- Responsive design — The website is designed to work across a range of devices and screen sizes, from mobile phones to desktop monitors.
- Alternative text — Where images are used, we provide meaningful alternative text descriptions. Decorative elements are marked as such.
- Form labels — All form fields include associated labels so that screen reader users can understand what information is required.
- ARIA attributes — Where appropriate, we use ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes to improve the experience for assistive technology users.
- Readable fonts — We use clear, legible fonts at appropriate sizes, and text can be resized using browser settings without loss of content or functionality.
Known Limitations
While we strive to make the entire website accessible, there may be some areas that are not yet fully optimised. Known limitations include:
- Some placeholder image areas do not yet contain real images with full descriptive alt text. These will be updated as imagery is added to the site.
- The contact form is currently a layout placeholder and is not yet connected to a backend service.
We are actively working to address these items and will update this statement as improvements are made.
Browser and Device Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with:
- Modern versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari
- Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
- Mobile devices running iOS and Android
- Magnification software and browser zoom features
How to Customise Your Experience
If you find our website difficult to use, you may find the following adjustments helpful:
- Zoom — Use your browser's zoom feature (Ctrl/Cmd + or -) to increase or decrease text size
- High contrast — Enable high contrast mode in your operating system or browser settings
- Screen reader — Use a screen reader such as NVDA (free), JAWS, or the built-in VoiceOver on Apple devices
